Fethiye is a gorgeous Turkish city, a confection of pristine beaches and historical sites. Perched on the country’s Turquoise Coast, its natural harbor is one of the town’s major attraction, a stunning sprawl of blue water dotted with cruise ships bobbing. Its beautiful bay is strung with many pretty islands and beaches Şövalye Adası and Ölüdeniz, which are only a day trip away from Fethiye. So it also serves as the layover point for those seaside resorts. The town’s charm is inherent, and spills out especially through the historical relics scattered across its terrains, all carrying chunks of the enthralling past and Lycian culture with them, like the pre-Roman rock tomb of Amytas, or in the UNESCO-listed ruins of the ancient city of Telmessos. Despite its growing attractions, it still retains its languid pace, a laid-back air in its people who are as friendly and welcoming as they look.
