Al A'ankah Fort

Located strategically near the village of Remah in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Al A'ankah Fort was originally constructed as a fortified house, although it is now referred to as a fort. The fort is believed to have been built around 1848 under the rule of Sheikh Saeed bin Tahnoon, who governed the emirate of Abu Dhabi from 1845 to 1855.

Comprising a rectangular two-story tower, Al A'ankah Fort occupies a roughly octagonal enclosure. Its walls were fabricated using mud bricks and cob, while ceilings were fabricated from palm tree trunks, and gypsum was utilized for decorative elements. In the 1980s, the fort underwent a complete restoration.

Today, Al A'ankah Fort offers free access to the public. The fort is distinctly marked with signage, including historical information to provide you with insights into its past.
