Have you ever wondered which is the second-smallest country in the world? Not really, huh? Well, it is a gorgeous country of Monaco nestled between the mighty Alps and the surreal Mediterranean sea. Within only 2.02 sq. km. area, this country packs some fantastic tourist attractions for the massively affluent and budget travelers alike.

A beautiful building with intricate baroque architecture perched on a cliff beside the sea is Museum of Oceanography, committed to sharing knowledge about oceans. This century-old museum hosts a variety of sea fauna and sea-related objects like model ships, sea animals skeleton. The highlights of the museum are its 6 massive aquariums that are home to almost 400 species of fish.

Formula One Monaco Grand Prix is probably the most popular event of Monaco. The streets of Monaco wear a festive look, and the enthusiasm of the Grand Prix fans is palpable. The narrow roads with steep turns make it one of the toughest circuits in the world. The course begins at the Boulevard Albert 1 up to Place du Casino including the nerve-racking turn right in front of the Monte-Carlo Fairmont Hotel.

Wander on the charming streets of the old and original town of Monaco here at Le Rocher. The small, windy walkways and characteristic buildings transfer you to medieval times. The strategic location of the rock became the center of the Grimaldi Dynasty.

The Grimaldis have ruled Monaco from their official residence, the Palace of Monaco, for almost 700 centuries. The palace has a mixture of architectural styles owing to its long history, although, the principal façade is built in Renaissance style. The palace is open for public viewing during Summer. Every day at 11:55 AM, the palace guards perform the traditional ritual of ‘Changing the Guard’ which is worth adding to your itinerary.

Earlier known as St. Nicholas Cathedral, this Roman-Byzantine style cathedral is built out of white stones from La Turbie. The cathedral has undergone many renovations, and the current structure is quite recent (1884). However, its interiors feature many treasures such as an altarpiece dating from 1500, the retable (circa 1500) and the Episcopal throne in white Carrara marble. The cathedral is open to tourists except during religious services.

Monaco is blessed with an extensive natural coastline. Monte Carlo Harbour is an epitome of luxury and glitz set in stunning natural beauty. Tourists can enjoy the dazzling views of the harbor as well as dine at the fine dining restaurants. Shopaholics can enjoy their retail therapy at shopping streets with luxury boutiques.

The casino is an integral part of Monaco’s history and present. The House of Grimaldi was built to save from bankruptcy, and the idea worked. Even today, the casino is a significant contributor to the Country’s economy. The tourists need to show their ID card and have to follow a dress code. The iconic casino appears in many James Bond movies like The GoldenEye. The casino has many intriguing attractions like Hexa Grace, Monte-Carlo Pavilions, and Monte-Carlo Opera House.
