Dammam is the capital of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and is its sixth most populous city. Dammam serves as one of the major administrative centers of the Saudi Oil Industry. It is home to the Dammam metropolitan area which comprises the ‘Triplet cities’ of Dammam, Dhahran and Khobar. The area on which Dammam sits now was earlier inhabited by the Dawasir tribe in 1923.
