The Hikkaduwa Beach is one of the most minor developed sites in Sri Lanka; as a result, it is an excellent location for those interested in experiencing something off the beaten path. The beach extends for kilometres and provides a wide variety of entertaining things for visitors to participate in so they do not become bored.

You will also come across coral gardens, which are regarded as one of the most beautiful aspects of these beaches, even though they were previously wholly obliterated due to a tsunami.

THINGS TO DO AT HIKKADUWA BEACH:

• Unwind in the lap of nature:

When you stroll onto the beach in Hikkaduwa, which is 98 kilometres away from Colombo, you will instantly feel like a youthful person again, even if you are 90 years old. The allure of the hippy attitude will seep into your veins, and before you know it, you will experience an overwhelming sense of reckless abandon.

• Adventurers can choose from activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving while participating in these water sports:

The crystal clear seas entice nature lovers who want to go for a swim so they may observe the brilliant and colourful marine life that lives in the waters. The refuge for coral reefs features stunning coral formations home to many fish species and giant turtles.

The islets along the beach are home to pockets of wildlife and provide a wonderful opportunity to engage with the local flora and fauna.

• Take in the beautiful sunset at Narigama Beach:

The beach seems like it was taken straight out of a movie or a photograph, thanks to the gorgeous colours cast into the sky by the setting sun. As a result, taking in the scene of the sun setting behind the waves at Narigama Beach is a beautiful sight to behold.

• Coral Reef Gardens: Delve into the mysterious depths of the ocean

A trip to see the vibrant coral reefs is unquestionably something you should do before climate change throws off the delicate balance of nature. The flourishing coral reefs of Sri Lanka are home to a diverse collection of marine life.

On the beach at Hikkaduwa, the turtles frequently bury their eggs in the sand, and if you're lucky, you might even see newly hatched turtles traversing into the water for the first time!

• Have some fun in the warm shallow water of the Laguna pool.

You can reserve a spot on a boat with a see-through bottom and watch schools of fish and other fascinating marine life from a closer vantage point.

Suppose you want to better look at them in the pristine waters. In that case, you might take a scuba diving or snorkelling class at a dive facility certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).

The excursions, each of which has been meticulously thought out and will be closely monitored, will guarantee that these activities will have no negative impact on the surrounding ecosystem.

• Visit the sunken ships of Hikkaduwa and take a look at the wrecks:

Who knows what kind of treasure you might uncover if you go below the water's surface? If you want to taste the adrenaline-filled experience that Hikkaduwa offers, you may also get your dream fulfilled here! In addition to the many kinds of fish and sea turtles that can be found along the coast, four separate shipwrecks can be found there, all of which can be explored.

• Participate in events and happening like the carnival:

The best time to spend at the beach is during the Hikkaduwa beach carnival, which takes place every year between July and August.

This festival is being held as part of an effort to bring back the allure of the hippie lifestyle. Some additional activities that may be enjoyed at the beach include surfing, scuba diving, and snorkelling.
