Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum

The Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum collection is a private archeology collection consisting of approximately two thousand movable artifacts, most of which are of Anatolian origin. The collection started with Yüksel Erimtan's purchase of Roman ring stones in 1960 and was later expanded upon the advice of competent archaeologists. The collection covers a time period from the 3rd millennium BC to the Byzantine Period. It contains works from different civilizations and periods, such as Hittite, Urartu, Assyrian, Achaemenid, and Byzantine.

To emphasize the cultural heritage of the Anatolian geography and present them to the audience in different ways, the artifacts in the museum collection were brought together. These include from the usual exhibition methods, both to highlight the visual values ​​of the works and to associate the works with the elements of contemporary life.

How to explore Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum?

• The works that make up the majority of the collection are finds from the Late Hellenistic and Roman Periods. Among these finds are bowls, jugs, glasses, measuring cups, rings, glass vessels, perfume bottles, ring stones with engraved seals, tweezers, gold crowns, striglis, jewelry, mirrors, glass stir sticks, and gold, silver, and bronze coins.
• The museum has a shop that includes books and classical music albums related to archaeology, art, history, and museology.
• The museum hosts multidisciplinary workshops related to the museum collection and temporary exhibitions if you are over 18 years. Experts in their fields lead these workshops with an aim to serve as a platform for you to experience the various dimensions of arts and culture. They also allow you to enjoy your time at the museum. Some examples of workshops are exlibris design, lino printing, rag doll design, modern calligraphy, yoga, hoop design, wood print, chocolate-making, terrarium making, dreamcatcher building, etc. 
• Every Tuesday, concerts are held at the museum. Attend one of them to feel the pulse of Turkish culture. 
• The Museum Café offers a broad variety of coffee and an enticing cuisine as a place for guests to unwind throughout the day. It also has outdoor seats and a garden with views over Ankara. The café also offers celebrations and parties for both individual and business clients.
