Al Ahsa Tourism

Al Ahsa is one of the most beautiful places in Saudi Arabia. This region is also known for the protected UNESCO World Heritage site and is the Guinness World Record holder of the largest self-contained oasis in the world. There are plenty of other historical sites that date back to the Neolithic era. For the nature lovers who want to take a break from their stress-free lives, Al Ahsa is an excellent choice for you. It is a beautiful green dot you will find in the middle of the dunes of Saudi Arabia. This world’s largest oasis has more than 1.5 million date palm trees.

Al Ahsa is the biggest governorate in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. The province's entire urban area is contained within the oasis, and Hofuf, the governorate's largest city, which is also frequently referred to as 'Al-Ahsa.' It served as and continues to serve as a land port that links the Kingdom to neighboring Gulf nations, including the UAE, Qatar, and Oman.

Earlier, during the Islamic days, it served as the entry point for pilgrims who were traveling to Mecca.

Al-Ahsa has maintained its rich history and traditions despite becoming a modern and crucial province of Saudi Arabia today. Due to its historical, archaeological sites, lush surroundings, and distinctive culture passed down from one generation to the next, Al-Ahsa has grown to be a well-liked tourist destination in the nation.

Al Ahsa is a gateway to a magnificent world of expansive greenery, sand-colored hamlets, bustling markets, and historical sites. Visit the area's network of artesian wells, canals, and springs that bubble water into the nearby farms and you may go swimming in the cooling waters. The region also has the first royal school and first masjid, the Jawatha Mosque.

You will find the Al Khalasah and Barhi varieties of dates here. Try them out and don't miss buying some of them! Other regional specialties to try out include the red-grained Hesawi rice and meals like Thareed (a breaded broth), Marqooq (a stew with lamb), and the rice dish Majboos with saffron flavoring.
